      The report reflects the efforts of the three Task Force Working Groups: on MIT education and facilities, on global opportunities around edX and on new financial models for higher education. Since beginning work last April, the Working Groups supplemented their discussions by reaching out, formally and informally, to many faculty, students. AASCU’s Task Force on Teacher Education assessed the state of teacher education at member institutions, identified pockets of innovation and success in the field, and highlighted the vital role of presidents and provosts in strengthening and supporting the effectiveness of their programs for an increasingly diverse P student body.

      As the Executive Order establishing this Task Force notes, New Jersey’s institutions of higher education have not met their full potential. They have been held back by regulations that drive up costs.
